Bridgewater Academy’s Pathways to Readiness is an affordable, high impact youth and young adult development program serving ages 11 to 24 through two age appropriate tracks. The program combines academics, athletics, mentorship, leadership development, career preparation, nutrition, and community engagement to help participants build confidence and prepare for future success.
The Summer Youth Track serves ages 11 to 17 twice weekly during the summer, with selected activities potentially continuing during the school year based on participation, available funding, and community partnerships. The College and Career Track serves ages 18 to 24 and will expand as funding and partnerships become available.
Summer Youth Track Activities Include:
• Basketball Breakout Sessions: Led by experienced coaches, these sessions focus on basketball development, teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Basketball equipment support is provided through Good Sports.
• Tutoring and Academic Enrichment: Qualified educators provide tutoring and academic support to help participants remain engaged and prepared for the upcoming school year.
• Mentorship and Leadership Development: Participants receive guidance from positive role models while developing confidence, communication, decision making, and leadership skills.
• College and Career Exploration: Youth are introduced to educational opportunities, career pathways, financial literacy, and skills that can help them prepare for the future.
• Nutrition and Healthy Meals: Nutritious meals are provided through the Mecklenburg County Summer Nutrition Program to support participants’ physical and mental development.
College and Career Track
As funding and community partnerships become available, the College and Career Track will support young adults ages 18 to 24 through:
• College persistence and academic guidance
• Career readiness and professional skill development
• Financial literacy
• Job shadowing, internships, and workforce connections
• Mentorship and leadership development
