LaShaunta’ Jones
Board Member and Athletic Consultant
LaShaunta’ Jones serves on the Board of Directors of Bridgewater Academy, bringing extensive experience in athletic healthcare, student support, academic advising, sports administration, and collegiate athletics. Her expertise strengthens Bridgewater Academy’s commitment to the safety, wellness, academic development, and personal growth of student athletes.
LaShaunta’ began her career at Central State University in 2002 as an intern with the Marauder Men’s Basketball program. After volunteering with the university’s athletic department, she was hired in 2005 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and Academic Advisor. In this role, she provided medical coverage for men’s and women’s track, men’s basketball, and the university’s returning football program.
In 2007, LaShaunta’ became one of the first women to serve as a Head Athletic Trainer at a historically Black college or university. She was appointed Senior Woman Administrator in 2008 and has also served as Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics. In addition to overseeing athletic training operations and the care of student athletes, she serves as an adjunct professor in Central State University’s Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department.
LaShaunta’ is a certified American Red Cross instructor and a nationally certified and state licensed athletic trainer. She is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also serves as a preceptor for athletic training students from CAATE accredited programs at Cedarville University and Wright State University.
LaShaunta’ earned a Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood Education with a concentration in Athletic Training from Wright State University in 2003. She earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2008.
